Definition of strategy
This is a collection of definitions of what strategy is and isn’t.
Strategy is as much about saying what you won’t do as it is about what you will do. Opportunities should expand your future possibilities and not reduce them.
Strategy is picking the game. Execution is getting very good at it.
Business strategy boils down to making a choice your competitors wouldn't. If you haven't, you don't have a strategy, you're just competing on quality of execution.
Manipulating the environment to your advantage is the essence of strategy.
Strategy is all about observing the landscape, understanding how it is changing and using what resources you have to maximise your chances of success.
Strategy is no more, and no less, than the discipline of making good choices in order to succeed.
